The United Church of God Fort Wayne formed on May 15, 1995, with 29 interested persons attending the first organizational meeting.

The congregation's bylaws affirm the basic truths of the Bible, and affiliate the group with the larger United Church of God, an International Association.

Our initial pastor was Darris McNeely, who drove up regularly from his home in Indianapolis to lead the group, first in Bluffton, Ind., and then later in Fort Wayne. Members of the founding board of directors were: Bob Borton, Richard Grass, Barb Hancock, Janice McKee, Darris McNeely, Scott Moss and John Robinson.

The group first met in the Edith Williamson Center in Bluffton, then the Wells County Senior Citizens' Center in Bluffton, and now meets in the Perry Hill Elementary School north of Fort Wayne.

Steve Sheppherd was our second pastor, splitting his time between Fort Wayne and the Elkhart, Ind., church. In 1997 Darris McNeely returned as pastor and continues in that capacity.
