Robert A. Borton, 1940-2006
ROBERT A. BORTON, 66, died Thursday morning, Dec. 7, 2006, of a fast-growing, inoperable brain tumor. Born in Fort Wayne, he was an Internal Auditor with Perfection Bakery for 43 years, retiring in 2002. He was a US Army, (PFC), veteran and was a member of the United Church of God. Surviving are sons, Joel Borton of Fort Wayne, Jeffery A. Borton of Churubusco; two granddaughters, Sophia and Tessa; brothers, Richard E. and Thomas E. Borton both of Fort Wayne; sister, Barbara A. Bolen of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Borton, in 2004. Funeral services were held Dec. 10 at the D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, with pastor Darris McNeely officiating. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials should go to the United Church of God.
Bob lived all but two of his 66 years in the Fort Wayne area, those two being spent in the Army. One posting was in Thule, Greenland, serving in security and as the chaplain's assistant on the weekends.
He graduated from North Side High School and Indiana University Extension here in Fort Wayne. While in the Army Bob took accounting courses. He worked from 1959 to 2002, 43 years, for Perfection Bakeries, Inc. Bob's last seven years with Perfection were spent as an internal auditor. He enjoyed traveling to their 40 branches, located in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan.
Bob married the former Janet Welty in 1967. Janet died Nov. 29, 2004, of complications arising after heart surgery.
Bob has been active in the church for approximately 40 years. In 1973 he was ordained as a deacon and in 1978 he was ordained as an elder.

Janet E. Borton, 1941-2004
JANET E. BORTON, 62, died early Monday morning, Nov. 29, 2004, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. She had two heart surgeries in recent months (Aug. 9 and Nov. 1) and died from complications arising after the second operation. Janet was a hardworking and faithful Christian who devoted her life to her family and to her church. Born in Warsaw, she was self-employed with Borton's Cleaning Service for nine years and was an active member of United Church of God. Survivors include her husband, Robert Borton of Churubusco; sons, Joel Borton of Fort Wayne, Jeffrey A. Borton of Churubusco; granddaughter, Sophia Borton of Fort Wayne; mother, Helen Welty of Mentone, Ind.; sisters, Helene Dunlap of Jacksonville, Fla., Sue Ann Mizell of Dallas, Texas; and brother, Lyle Welty of Cleveland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Welty; and sister, Carol Wolf. Burial is in Veterans' Garden section of Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials to United Church of God.

Wilmer H. Beyer, 1912-2005
WILMER H. "POP" BEYER, 93, of Coldwater, Mich., died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at home. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a former resident of Van Wert, Ohio and Tekonsha, Mich. He and his wife Gerri have been members of the Church of God since the early 1960s. In his late teens he placed sixth in the world in a speed roller skating competition held in Chicago, Ill. He retired as co-owner of Beyer's Van Wert Roller Rink in 1975, and also retired from Dana Plant Security after 19 years, in 1975. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Geraldine "Gerri" Parker; son, Laron (Marla) Beyer of Kimmel; daughter, Sharon (Charlie) Stemen of Tekonsha, Mich.; sister, Clara Adair of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Gary McConnaughey performed his funeral in New Haven, Ind. Burial was in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, Monroeville, Ind. Preferred memorials are to Southern Care Hospice, 437 Fern Ave., Jackson, MI 49202.

Phyllis Crow, 1937-2001
PHYLLIS KAY CROW, 63, died April 6, 2001 in Portland, Ind., of cancer. She was born June 17, 1937, in Jay County, Ind., to Donald and Virginia Louck, who preceeded her in death. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Violet Gehrke and and two grandchildren, Wesley Worthen and Scarlet Ellis and one great-grandchild, Arielle Worthen. Phyllis had been a member of the Church of God since 1959. Frank McCrady peformed her funeral service in Portland, Ind., and she is buried in Claycomb Cemetery in Portland.

Lois R. Dilbone, 1919-2003
LOIS R. DILBONE, 84, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, in a Fort Wayne, Ind., hospital. She was born Aug. 27, 1919, and was preceeded in death by her husband Wilbur. Lois is survived by her daughter Kay and several grandchildren. Darris McNeely performed her funeral service in Van Wert, Ohio, and she is buried in the Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Ada N. Padolsky, 1902-2003
ADA NEOMA PADOLSKI, 101, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, in Florissant, Mo. She was born in Athens, Ohio, on Oct. 17, 1902, and lived in Michigan, Indiana and Missouri. She married John Padolski Oct. 18, 1950, and they lived in Toledo, Ohio, until his retirement, when they moved to Ayersville, Ohio. Ada was baptized on March 18, 1964, and attended services in Fort Wayne, Ind., until a congregation was established in Toledo in 1977. At the age of 75 she got a driver's license so she could get around on her own. In 1997 she moved to St. Louis, where she lived alone in an apartment until 2002. She then moved to a nursing home in Florissant. She had two daughters, several children and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. Darris McNeely performed her funeral service in Defiance, Ohio, and she is buried in the Live Oak Cemetery in Paulding, Ohio.

John S. Robinson, 1945-2006
JOHN S. ROBINSON, 60, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, Austin, Texas, from complications of prostate cancer. John was born Feb. 11, 1945, in Glasgow, Scotland, and was reared in the faith since age 5. Robinson served as chief executive officer of Dynamic Resource Group, the management company that oversees the publishing and fulfillment companies owned by the Muselman family of Berne, Ind. For almost 35 years he had been involved in the publishing industry in a variety of positions. Robinson was founding editor of The Worldwide News, and later In Transition. In addition to his business pursuits in the 1980s, he served on the faculty of the University of Texas at Tyler, teaching journalism, public relations and graphic arts classes. His undergraduate degree is from Ambassador College, Big Sandy, 1966, and he served on the faculty there. He also earned a master's degree in journalism from Texas A&M University, Commerce and had completed other graduate work at the University of Southern California. After moving to Berne in 1989, he was an adjunct professor in journalism at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., teaching a magazine class. Robinson, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, was a U.S. citizen as well as a British subject. He was a member of the United Church of God Fort Wayne, and had pastored several congregations in previous years in Texas and Ohio. He spoke fluent Spanish, and listed travel as his principal hobby. He has spent time in all 50 states of the United States and has traveled to 25 countries on five continents. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, the former Alice Rothery; his mother, Margaret Robinson of Tulsa, Okla.; sons John David and Stephen and daughter, Rachel, all of Austin; a brother, Mark Robinson of Plano, Texas; a brother, Robert Robinson of Palestine, Texas; and sisters Felicity Reedy of Tyler, Texas, and Mary Robinson of Tulsa, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. Pastor Darris McNeely officiated at the funeral, Monday, Jan. 9, in Austin and burial was in the Robinson family section of Latham Cemetery, near his hometown of Alice, Texas. Suzanne Wolfe, 1935-2000
SUZANNE R. WOLFE, 64, died early Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2000, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. She was born and reared in the Auburn, Ind., area, and lived for many years near or in Columbia City. She graduated high school in 1953 and worked as a telephone operator before her marriage to Richard Wolfe in June 1959. She then became a homemaker and also sold Avon for more than 15 years. Survivors include her husband Richard, sons Michael and David, daughter Barbara Harvey, six grandchildren and her step-father, Clem Decker of Morganton, N.C. She was preceeded in death by her father, Arthur Runge, her mother Wanda, daughter Michell Ann Wolfe and brother Steven Runge. Darris McNeely and Bob Borton performed the funeral, and burial is in the Eberhard Lutheran Cemetery in Columbia City. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
